Bomb squad, police and ambulance at incident in Leicestershire village cul-de-sac.  Police, ambulance crews and the bomb squad are at an incident

in a cul-de-sac in a Leicestershire village.  Vicarage Close in Newbold Coleorton near Ashby was shut off by police earlier today. 

A woman who lives in the village said she went past at around 2pm and the street had been cordoned off, with only residents allowed in.  She went past again at around 4pm and the cordon was still in place. She said police and the ambulance service were in attendance. Leicestershire Police has been contacted for comment. Further updates will follow below the article

 

16:56 Hazardous area team dispatched.  East Midlands Ambulance Service has issued a statement, A spokesperson said:     We received a call at 2.06pm today to Coalville to assist police with an incident. We sent two paramedics in two ambulance cars and our Hazardous Area Response Team. We are still waiting on Leicestershire Police for a comment.




16:49 Gas incident ruled out.  Gas supplier Cadent has confirmed that they do not have any engineers in the area, and that they do not have any incidents on-going there. We are still waiting on the emergency services to respond with a statement.


16:28  Residents evacuated. There are reports that residents were told to evacuate the close and go to the Beaumont Centre. We have contacted Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service for a comment.
